So called generic top level domains (".com", ".net", ".org", ".biz", ".info") operate alongside national top level domains, and are the most reliable and easiest way for information to reach its global audience. These top level domains usually have an ending which is descriptive of the owner’s activities (.COM = COMmercial, .ORG=ORGanization, etc.).
