    Occupational Safety and Health Policy

The obligation to draw up an occupational safety and health policy is regulated in the Occupational Safety and Health Act. According to the Act, to promote the safety and health and to maintain the employees’ ability to work, an employer has to have a policy for the action needed, which deals with development needs of working conditions at the workplace and impacts of various factors relating to the working environment.

The policy has to include a survey of the present situation at the working place and the development actions. The [Equality Plan], [Gender Equality Plan] and an allocation of work safety responsibilities at the working place may also be included in the policy.

It is not necessary to prepare or update the occupational safety and health policy annually. It is sufficient to update it when the circumstances have changed.

The occupational safety and health policy shall be handled together with the employees or their representatives. The policy may be handled in occupational health and safety cooperation regulated by the Occupational Safety and Health Act or the Act on the Supervision of Occupational Safety and Health and Cooperation on Occupational Safety and Health.
