General Notification Procedure

The Environmental Protection Act contains a compared to the environmental permit lighter notifying procedure for advance control of activities. The Appendix 4 of the Act stipulates the activities which are not required to apply for an environmental permit, but instead the operator is required to submit a written notice of the activity which causes danger of environmental pollution. Essential group of activities listed in the Appendix are animal shelters. The notification shall be completed 120 days before commencing the action.

The notice is submitted either to the municipal environmental protection authority or the state environmental protection authority. The authority grants a decision on the matter. If the activity described in the notice is admissible, the authorities may give further specifications on preventing environmental pollution.
