Marketing Raffles
An advertiser needs to concentrate on the products in marketing unless it is a question of image marketing about the company. In marketing raffles, competitions or games the product must always play the main role and be brought forward. Participation and the prizes cannot take a dominant stand.
Marketing raffles, when evaluated as whole, need to be appropriate and may not be misleading. The terms and conditions of the marketing raffles, competitions and games have to present sufficient and clear information on participation, the chances for winning and the prizes. The terms and conditions need to be easily accessible. According to the Consumer Ombudsman the terms and conditions have to include at least the following information:
the organizer
what is the time schedule
how to participate and how the raffle, competition or game is conducted
who decides the outcome of the raffle, competition or game
when the outcome or decision is determined
how the results can be checked and how the results are informed
It is allowed to arrange a competition based on skills i.e. it is permitted to organize a drawing competition, where the best drawing receives a prize. It is required however that the winner has participated and has really been chosen as a winner based on his skills.
Participation to a marketing raffle may be limited to the purchasers of the marketed product.
